There's nothing quite so sure to remind you how fleeting fame is than ripping a 20 year old CD collection and trying to find tracklists and artwork.
...oooh, a mix CD *I* made on the very CHEAPEST CD-Rs (actually transparent!) over 20 years ago. Let's try and rip that.
I'm sure every track's data will be...oh...okay.

Sadly, the fun bit of this box is over and done with - that was the bit where I discovered that before moving from the UK I'd actually ripped half of the box already! :)
...now we're into the bit of the box where I actually have to find artwork and CD listings again.
Bleh.
Can I just share that I hate webp images? Can I? They're a pain in the arse.
I mean, I accept that technology moves on, but virtually nothing but webbrowsers will look at webp images yet, so they're a complete git to deal with.
...oh my gods! They both ripped. Both CDs.
I mean there's nothing on there I couldn't pull from somewhere else, and iirc one of the CDs had a corrupt track burned to it, but... yeah. The ancient (for small, but unexpected values of ancient) media survived.
@pyoor - I'm currently digitizing my old VHSes and I'm super surprised at how well they've kept up. I have stuff from 1985 still playing pretty well.
@dolari you wouldn't like to digitize some PAL VHS tapes at all, would you?
@dolari ah well. I will one day get them done one day. I keep looking on eBay for a reasonably priced multi format player.
