People often fantasize about some magical yet violwntrevolution thatll turn the world into some utopia for whoever is talking but historically speaking. Those revolutions only bring only a minor changing of the guard if theres any major change. And people act like its 'bound to happen eventually'. I mean yeah within the next 10-15 years if things stay the same there will be exponentially more civil unrest but thats still zero guarantee that there will be that magical revolution. Because when things stay the same for many years that means things are actually slowly becoming worse. Because that means infrastructure is slowly crumbling all while your paycheck gets worth less and less

@Mondobizarrro - The thing I get into the most arguments is that (1) We have systems of change if everyone would go out there and use them. And yes, they're not perfect, but they're what we have, and guess what, work for the change using those same systems and it could happen. It'll be slow as hell, and you'll have setbacks, but it can happen.

But when they push back, I go into (2) okay, you want revolution. I can get behind that if you want to go that way. But. Are you ready to kill your neighbor? They might be on the opposing side. Are you willing to give up your life for what you want? If you lose, and it could happen, you are likely dead. Can you work with others with slightly differing opinions? Cause as Ben Franklin said: "We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately."

Revolution talk is fun, yeah. But the reality is not gonna be fun or easy.

@dolari i dont see major societal change without mass civil unrest happening within the near future but im also not gonna say that a revolution will bring a utopia. I just do not see the american government being able to change considerably witbout lots of people being killed before that happens. Not that i want that to happen but i cannot trust my cis counterparts to do the right thing. Expect the worst, hope for the best ig idk

@Mondobizarrro - There's a third option, and the one that I hope for personally, and that's societal collapse. LEt it burn itself out and rebuild from scratch.

I'd hoped that the pandemic would be a good turning point in that, as we pretty much were "burning" in Covid, but what dissapointed me and dissillusioned me, too, was that we were just as happy to go back to what we had before instead of take the changes we made for the better and moving forward with them.

We didn't even fix the pandemic.

@dolari either way many of my friends will be caught in the cross fire. It seems often with life we have to choose the least shit option at times. On one hand i like where i live but i also fear that the government if the wrong people get ahold of it will openly kill my friends and i for being who i am
