For whatever reason I found myself unable to sneak up on a horse in this game for the longest time.
First time I rode to a stable was on a deer, because I fell off a tree on accident at just the perfect moment.

I have just been sent a link to a tumlr post where someone made a box with ultrahand on a long stick and used it to catch the horse like a giant butterfly net before hopping in and getting the horse.
I keep forgetting I could do this stuff.
