@dolari was this a Wacom style mouse tablet or one you can directly draw on like a cintiq or iPad?

@dolari oh yeah that's definitely not something I know a lot about, I migrated to a (refurbished) iPad pro, but I had just a regular run of the mill one before. But I imagine it's slightly out of price range overall so not a huge help, sorry!

@dolari also what is the stylus doing? Is it something that could be fixed?

@Alairthephoenix - It's a stylus with a top that unscrews so you can put a battery in it. It's norotiously flimsy, and was cracked when I got the tablet second-hand.

The problem is, it's also an electrical connector, so it disconnects every so often and I have to re-screw it to make the connection. It's been getting worse over the years and is getting to the point of being useless (I'll draw a line, it'll lose connection, and I have to rescrew it and hope it doesn't happen again).
