@ami_angelwings - Babylon 5. As one of my friends says "Everyone who loves it, apologizes for it."
It's an amazing show, and some of the best writing in television, and it deserves a lot of the acclaim given to it...
...but that first season is so incredibly bad. I'm genuinely surprised it survived that first season.
@robinrenee @ami_angelwings - There are some absolutely gems in the first season (Signs and Portents, Babylon Squared, basically anything written by JMS).
But everything else was....yikes. And I don't see what JMS saw in Michael O'Hare, who was so so so wooden and helped bring the series down in my view.
@dolari @ami_angelwings And WB agreed with you, which is why we got Bruce Boxleitner in S02. Bruce did bring a lot more dynamic action to the series, and I’m sure the show wouldn’t be the same (or even as good) without him. But I saw a lot in Sinclair’s character that resonated with me and excused his wooden behavior. I guess it’s just different interpretations of the same character/actor.
@dolari @ami_angelwings I guess I’m an outlier here, but I’ve never apologized for B5. I’ve even thought that the 1st season had strong moments and set the stage for the remaining 4 seasons well, even with its lower production values and rough edges.
To each their own.
