I'm going to share one of the most excellent ideas that my wife has had. And she's had a lot of excellent ideas.

Cleaning our house was always a bit sporadic. We would keep the house pretty okay, but eventually areas would always end up getting untidy, we'd get a bit overwhelmed and then they'd sit, and then we would have to have a big clean.

That would take an entire weekend, and leave us feeling drained and fed up with what felt like a wasted weekend.

Then my wife came up with the idea of just doing 15 minutes a day. And doing it on a schedule so we knew what we had to do each day, and didn't have to try and work out which area needed attention. It's worked really well, and now every so often we might do a bit of a deeper clean, but in general we can muster the energy to do 15 minutes every day.

@pyoor - One of the things I'm very big on is to take the time to "de-clutter." First time to yourself you have, run through all the rooms and put dishes away/into the dishwasher, move things back to where they belong and generally just "keep it okay."

Then one weekend a month, do a big deep-clean (vacuuming, wipe-downs, the like).

In the end, if you can make the decluttering a daily habit, It takes all of maybe ten minutes. And the big Deep Clean?" A few hours at most (and that's usually vacuuming for me).
