Last Boost: If it's an arcade sttyle game, I'll throw it on the hardest level, but scale back if it becomes Not Fun.
@dolari You don't want to go through the first time on easy just to get the feel of it? I always did that with Chicken Invaders but ultimately I have it on the highest from there.

@Holocluck - I tend to go backwards. I can usually tell if a game is not for me even on the higher difficulties. My only real exception to that is any SNK arcade game from the 90s. Even on mid-levels, they're just designed to humiliate you. :D
