Parents are here. First thing they wanted was breakfast-for-dinner, and since Shari's are all closed in Seattle, I took them to IHOP.

IHOP gave me the squarest dinner I've ever had. Square chicken fried steak, square hashbrowns, square cream gravy (how?). I think the eggs might be square under the hashbrowns.

Thoughts Before Bed

I'm laying in bed, 500 feet from the Pacific Ocean. It's midnight, so I can't see it. But I can hear it, like the gentle rumble of air conditioning.

You read in books about the "Call to the Sea," the longing captains have to send themselves the unknown. It's very real, and I caught that bug the first time I ever saw the Pacific Ocean from here about ten years ago.

At that time, it was just a few minutes, staring into the forever waters at the end of the world. Now I've shared some extended time with that ocean, and that fascination has not waned. I feel there's something out there I want to see. Maybe something that would like to see me. And there's always the temptation to just walk into it, and swim as far as it will take me. Mostly I feel very small compared to the gigantic waves I see.

I love the ocean. I will need to visit this place again.

Santa says I was a good girl this year but not that good. I can have all my old toys back. But only two new ones.

I found my computer glasses! They found thier way under my living room coffee table somehow....

There's been a lot of talk about the Star Trek Multiverse amd how LD may have moved Discovery away from the prime timeline. I actually kinda sketched up a "Theory of the Multiverse" when Lower Decks started, around 2020.

I also attemtped a Doctor Who one, which didnt' go as well.

I worked at a comic shop during the Death of Superman. I remember handing these out like candy that day and we "sold out" pretty quickly (in fact, we held back some for kids getting out of school).

Something that made me sad were people showing up and saying "We're gonna finance our kids college with this!" They weren't comic book fans, just people who got whipped into the hype, or speculators trying to make an easy buck and didn't realize that the reason comics get expensive is their rarity AND demand.

Demand was there, sure. But DC printed so many of thiese things they were never going to be expensive. It's been 32 years, so I hope those kids got to go to college regardless.

I love this pic. Everyone in our Creator Jam sitting around the ramen bar I made (and then they made better!). :)

Still not feeling 100% and my stomach demanded a pizza, so I ordered one. Halfway through the first slice, my stomach said "we're done."

So yeah, still sick. But getting better and now I have food for a couple of days.

Doing my throat some good. Wish I had some tofu me bamboo shoots to add some bulk.
