Radio New Zealand coming in strong enough to sound like it's next door. They're talking about the effects of typhoon flooding on farms from the typhoon that just hit there.

@kf4yfa - Linux Mint is a branch of Ubuntu (and shows as Ubuntu in EFI).

@kf4yfa - I use Linux Mint. I used to be an Arch Linux girl, but then thought "If I mastered the hardest distro, betcha the easiest will be REALLY nice." :D

@c0debabe - What's funny is my brain translated this image backwards: Me burying the hopes and dreams that keep coming up and dissapointing me.

So I decided on installing a new shortwave reciever for Linux now that my laptop has it, and GQRX seems to be the best one. Plugged it in, couldn't get it to work for the life of me, then suddenly, pop,. started working.

Oh, man, this works so much better than SDR Sharp. I can actually HEAR things with this. Apparently it has a better static filter, and suddenly I'm hearing stuff left and right. IT's the same stuff as before - but at the same time - it's LEGIBLE now. I don't just see the frequency, I can hear them as more than a Charlie Brown adult "Wwa waaaa waaaa" sound.

Okay, so are the whole 2020s gonna be like this, cause if so, I'd like to return this purchase.

I'll never get over how interconnectable Linux is.

@pyoor - I've become a huge fan of Linux Mint. It just straight up works. I only have Windows partitions for the very few programs I can't run in Linux.

So, not only is the house clean, but all the computers are de-crufted. The laptop and the living room PCs are now also running Linux alongside Windows. I figure why should my main PC get all the fun with Linux.

Yay.

My Valentine (me) got me (also me) some nice chocolates for Valentine's Day.

*arrives in 'heaven'*

god: "So, did you like it?"

me: "Like what?"

god: "Life. It's a survival horror game I.."

me: "Well, THAT makes sense."

god: "So? What did you think?"

me: "Character selection doesn't even work right. The whole thing is pay to win, heavily rigged against casual players, bug reports go unanswered, but overall, I think you nailed it. It's a horror just trying to survive."

god: "I'm the best."

House is clean, I am clean, this feels a lot better.

In better news, the office is now clean, and just needs vacuuming. The read bathroom needs sweeping and the toilet cleaned (ew) and the deep-clean will be done. I really needed it. I've been living in my own junkyard for a while now.

So the problem with the comal came from when the de-rusting gel I bought was seperated. That shouldn't have happened, but I bought the stuff from Amazon. WHo knows how long it was sitting on a shelf before it was shipped to me.

Everything else that went wrong happened because the gel seperated. But the rust on the comal is the same type as it was before today, it's just EVERYWHERE now. This weekend, I'm going to go to the Ace Hardware in town, and buy some of the de-rusting gel off the shelf. If it's still a gel, I'll try the de-rusting again. And I will check BEFORE I scrub down the comal again. If it's not, I'll return it, and ask for a fresh one.

I was worried that the worst would happen. And it did. And it messed me the hell up today. Maybe I'll be over it by the weekend, and if so, well, I can't make things much worse.
