Yo nerds, remember the DS9 mugs? The company still makes them (mildly redesigned) and they're restocking the Deep Space Purple version on Friday.

I bought one a year ago, and it's my daily driver when it's hot tea season (basically everything except summer).

I'm not getting anything for telling you all this, just sharing because I remember how many people were excited about my mug when I first got it. 🖖💚

Edit: Apparently they won't ship to the EU because of VAT tax.

Me, to housemate: "Go! Run! Before you learn about Tekwar too!"

Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are not your friends.

Spotify just reported record-breaking profits.

In totally unrelated news, Spotify stopped paying nearly 90% of artists on the service ANYTHING (no royalties for songs w <1k streams/year)

::blink blink::

Why have I been buying hot dog buns for sausages WHEN I CAN MAKE TORTILLAS FOR SAUSAGE WRAPS.

I really need to remember these things. If I'm not careful, I'm gonna lose my Mexican Abuelita license.

If learning to make tortillas makes me an abuelita, does having this hard candy make me a granny?

Auntie?

Thoughts Before Bed

In the last 48 hours, decisions have been made, decisions have been accepted, and futures have been plotted.

It's going to be a rough road the next few years. But I have good fam around me, good allies supporting us, and if we can make it through this, we will.

But it's gonna be rough.

Watch this space.

So, I stumbled across some videos of James May back in the Covid Era making sandwiches he had as a boy in the 70s. The number one thing I noticed? He buttered the bread. Every time.

I don't do that. I use mayo and mustard, but I don't butter the bread (unless I'm toasting it, and even then, I butter the OUTSIDE).

Do you butter your bread? And if so, where are you located?

So, in an attempt to temporarily escape the nightmare of the last few weeks, I worked on updating the bed in EmuVR. Looking online, I was super surprised to find the actual pillow cases I had in the 80s, AND that the photo was totally texture ready.

The bedspread was harder to find, so I simply grabbed my current comforter, took a pic of that, and textured the bed with it. I have a thing for warm reds and browns....

All the comforts of my home in the 90s. Gonna need it for when I upload my brain to the cloud to escape the horrors of meatspace.

Where's Mr. Scott when you need him....

Ice Cream #3 - Finally. Teaberry.

And all my frozen cream is out of the freezer. Thawing cream from frozen is wierd. It never liquefies and stays chunky solid. Until you start to stir it. Then it literally melts back into cream.

Dairy is WIERD.

So, my Holy Basil plant is doing quite well. Tons of leaves, and a bug I can't seem to catch that is nibbling on some of them. Not sure how I should start harvesting the leaves, but there's enough there to make any food I make with it very happy.

I love how his stems are reaching out for the sun.

Today's Low Quality Ad is for this pack of 100 high quality razor blades from Zomchi. Making videos still feels weird, but pictures alone simply would not do this box of 100 razor blades justice.

Dear leftists

Let people be complex and cringe sometimes without completely excluding them, please, I'm begging you

@jeff @Npars01 While this may be true, they're going to hurt a lot of people trying. So we all have to pull together, throw sand in the gears and resist.

Jimmy Kimmel said it well. It was a terrible night for those who voted for Trump. They just don’t know it yet. I walk through several examples of why that is in today’s piece: open.substack.com/pub/statusku
