@socketwench - There werw two scenes Rochard Donner considered the most important. Lois' terrace interview in Superman I and the gun-pull of Superman II. So important he made them part of the film test for both Reeves and Kidder (which is what you see in the Richard Donner Cut). The gun pull works so much better than Clark tripping into the fire and not being hurt in the released version.

And the look Jor-El gives Lois. That was worth whatever they were paying him for the role.

@socketwench - I for one welcome our new Texan Kryptonian overlords.

@socketwench - "That film didn't really follow up on that thread, instead focusing entirely on Kal-El's origin story."

As the original version of the movie was designed, Superman never turned back time. The missle that was supposed to hit Hackensack goes into space and releases the three prisoners. That was supposed to be a cliffhanger ending. However, when Superman II's filming was halted, they ended up using the turn-back-time element in the first movie and therefore trashed the cliffhanger. So there was going to be a bookend with the prisoner originally.

"We're watching the Richard Donner Cut tonight, so I'm guessing there will be minor differences from my recollections."

Oh, holy fuck no. There will be MAJOR differences....

I have nothing but sympathy for trans people who are forced to detransition, hopefully temporarily, because of financial and social pressures.

But conservative anti-trans "detransitioner" activists are scum.

Reminded that Small Wonder was a show that existed

How did it hang on for 3 seasons

The future of the United States is no longer decided in Washington. That ship has sailed. It's now dictated in the bunkers, private jets, and compounds of an ideological Silicon Valley, by billionaires and wealth extremists intent on treating democracy as a nuisance that must be swatted away. i just learned this yesterday but: if you're trans and you were born in the state of New Jersey, there's a fastpass discounted system in place to ammend your birth documents.

nj.gov/health/vital/correcting

it costs 6$ if you're just doing gender marker, 8$ if you're doing name as well, 10$ total for an extra (second) copy of the new birth cert. they obliterate the old record through all state systems & replace it with the corrected one. this takes 8-10 weeks. and they have a badass name: Record Modification Unit.

it includes nb options
it includes options for parents w trans kids

someone in 2018 understood the need for this and absolutely nailed their assignment perfectly.

i think every state should model on this tbh
