Every so often I fire up Cosmos and re-watch it. This was what got me entranced with science, the universe, and everything else out there. 43 years later, it still holds up. The science has advanced, but the show is so grounded in science, that very little needs updating.

violent death of a trans youth

The Independent has made some major headway on the story of Nex Benedict, a nonbinary OK high schooler who died after being brutally beaten by older teenage girls at school.

They've found reason to believe Nex was bullied for being nonbinary, making it increasingly likely anti-trans hate led to their death. #trans #news #transgender #nonbinary

I really like the label of the Telluridan synthale bottles in #StarTrekTNG's "Legacy". It looks like some kind of coat of arms with an alien animal. Notice how the orientation of the label changes between the planet shot ↙️ and the bridge shot ↘️, though. ;-)

@theropologist ON MOST PLANETS, PEOPLE DON'T SAY "THANK FUCKING GOD" WHEN I PROMISE DOOM.

LB: One thing I never got used to in my transition is form fitting clothing. Before I transitioned, I wore very loose fitting clothes. Once I transitioned, I found myself called frumpy cause I wouldn't wear tighter things.

Something about how the material sticks to my skin, or slides past it really bothers me. I've honestly felt trapped by some clothes.

I sometimes wonder if it was because I never acclimated to it, not growing up with it.

@Holocluck - This is BNN, and sadly, the only article I found that wasn't 100% outrage, and even slightly a bit sympathetic to trans-folk.

@webcomictalk - I've done two crossovers in my Closetspace comic, one major, one minor. The minor one was simply having an angel character from my A Wish for Wings Comic appear in my Closetspce Comic.

The major one, though, was a crossover with Venus Envy. This was planned between me and VE's creator Erin Lindsey/Crystal Frasier to be one where we both worked on each others comics, however, it ended up only being my side of the crossover getting done (although with her permission and supervision of her characters).

What was important, though, was that the corssover HAD to do two things: (1) it it had to further my story and (2) my main story had to make sense WITHOUT the crossover in case I ended up not being able to reprint the VE characters in book form. I think I managed on both counts, and while the story makes sense without the crossover, it makes better sense with it. But that's what's important.

Having the crossover is great and all, but in the end, it has to service the story and not just be a crossover for crossover's sake.

I never did find out what Erin/Crystal had in mind for my her character living in my character's world, other than she got a tattoo on her arm that said "Mario" and was wearing a bee costume by the end of her side of the adventure.
