Uhg. Had a crick in my neck as well as back pain all day. I slept pretty badly last night. Been sleeping pretty badly for a while now. I need a vacation from my "vacation...."

As much as digital TV is an improvement over analog, I do miss being able to watch weaker signals when it gets cloudy.

"But, Jenn, it's always cloudy in Seattle."

I know, I know.

Three day cleaning binge over! Everything is sparkly and spotless except the dishes cause the dishwasher will only hold so much without exploding.

Now onto the end of the month backups, and take on May with a fresh start.

Everything's Deep Cleaned except me, and that's happening after I finish watching "The Day the Earth Stood Still." :)

Most of the house has been deep cleaned. Just gonna get some breakfast, then take on my collective nemeses: the kitchen and toilets.

Thoughts Before Bed

I've not talked about this a lot, but I've hit a major major block with the Genevieve story. Like...several years long block. I think, though, I may have finally cut my way through that knot. I was watching TV tonight kinda mindlessly, when my brain just popped up and said:

"You are trying to write one story with five threads. You are trying to mesh the threads together, and make it work as one cohesive story. This is wrong. Write five stories, with one thread a piece. Don't intertwine, don't force story changes, just write the five stories seperately. THEN, once you've done that, weave the five stories into one thread. Go do it."

And it all just clicked into place. Just that..."Oh. I GET it now. I GET IT." I've been blocked because I'm trying to find a way to tell five stories coherently as one narrative. What I need to do is tell five stories, as five narratives. Then once THAT'S done, braid those five narratives into one book.

And it only took me...what...two or three years to figure out?

When I was very very young and far more feral, I used to call Lieutenant Farrell here "Ensign Skull" cause my baby brain thought his face looked like a skull.

I was kind of a jerk as a kid. Lieutenant Farrell's probably a nice guy....

Remember that episode where Geordi turned into a giant teddy bear and rode the Enterprise like a horse? That was awesome.

83 in the house. 😭 If I knew we weren't getting cold later in the next few days, I'd install the A/C.

I hate to waste a good sunny warm day in Seattle, but I woke up late, and need to clean myself up if I'm going to do anything. Let's just keep working on the house, and save some cash and sun for later.

@gaghyogi49 - I wonder, given your love of Star Trek Minutae, if you ever saw my ST:TMP "Watchalong" thread on Twitter. It talks about all the differences in the scripts and versions of the movie with time stamps: threadreaderapp.com/thread/146

It ended up turning into this finished (and expanded!) web page about the evolution of the movie from Genesis II all the way up to the 2022 Director's Edition: dolari.net/startrek/tmp/index.

I haven't really kept up with the house since I got roto-rootered. I've decluttered here and there, but mostly the place has cluttered and dusted up. I decided to get back on the end-of-the-month bandwagon and finally deep clean the house. As of right now, only two rooms are clean, but there are two more days in the weekend.

It's been a rough 2023.

Pro-trans voice silenced and sidelined. Meanwhile, anti-trans voice says she'd rather have a suicidal daughter than let her transition because "she was incapable of making those decisions and I had to make those decisions for her." YIKES.

I think the next batch of bread will not have poppy seeds on them. THAT STUFF GETS EVERYWHERE.
