Don't get me wrong.
I like people... well, a lot of people, anyway.
I like helping people with their issues.
I like being good and reasonable and sensible. Or pretending to be, anyway.
But WHEN DID I BECOME THE ADULT IN THE ROOM?!
I'm a gigantic disaster, I'm a wreck of a human being, I'm a mess and a complete fuckup, I'm a Titanic, I'm a freaking toilet paper homonculus figurine! I can barely manage my own life without it turning into a dumpster fire! Why does everyone think that I'm a good target for "Hey, this girl should be able to fix my life!"?!
The culture war over gender affirming Healthcare so frequently ignores the fact that only a small percentage of gender affirming care is actually for trans people. The majority is for cis people who are accessing it for the exact same reasons as trans people, feeling more comfortable in their gender identity.
I was prescribed spiranolactone because my body makes more testosterone than I want it to, and as a girl I do not like having excessive facial hair. Easy easy, doctor tested my blood and wrote the prescription. I didn't have to prove anything other than I wanted less facial hair, and because I'm cis everyone involved trusted that my personal preferences and discomfort were enough to give me what I needed to solve the problem.
Most top surgeries are performed on cis men (to treat gynecomastia and create a more masculine chest) and cis women (to create a more feminine chest). Most hormone therapy is given to cis people to help them comfortable in their gender.
Once you could count on some things posted online probably being true because, well, why would anyone bother to put out misinformation about a topic so obscure or uncontroversial? now the simple fact that someone might want to know a bit of information makes it worth faking if it can get their eyeballs on an ad— or improve the search ranking for some company. The harmless act of *being curious* about the world causes misinformation to spring to life. We have made wanting to learn destructive.

#OTD in 585 BC.
A solar eclipse occurs, as predicted by the Greek philosopher & scientist Thales, while Alyattes is battling Cyaxares in the Battle of the Eclipse, leading to a truce.
How exactly Thales predicted the eclipse remains uncertain; some scholars assert the eclipse was never predicted at all. Others have argued for different dates, but only the eclipse of May 585 BC matches the conditions of visibility necessary to explain the historical event.
If you live in the UK or USA, you need to understand one thing about the coming election:
You need to vote *defensively*.
Neither of the main parties are appealing. But if you don't vote for the lesser evil you may end up helping a totalitarian horror get elected.
Hold your nose and goddamn vote, dammit. THEN go on protests. Because if you don't vote for the lesser evil, the victor will welcome your protests with bullets.
The prize for political purity this time round is a shallow grave.

Thoughts Before Bed:
Okay, I wasn't sure I was all in on the more supernatural bent Doctor Who is taking this season, but "73 Yards" has me all in on how they're handling it.
There are episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation that the writers called "Wierd Shit" episodes. Where the Sci-Fi wasn't front and center, and instead they dove into the mystery of something odd happening to the crew.
Doctor Who's new direction is not the "exploring fairy tales" idea I got with the goblin episode, but genuine folk tale style stuff and attatching Trek's "Wierd Shit" mindset to it.
I'm in. I'm all in. :)
I've never been the biggest fan of 3D movies, mainly because they rarely worked for me in theaters. But watching 3D movies in VR gives a whole new life to 3D Movies.
I think it's because if I move my head, or tile my view, the 3D "sticks." It doesn't double vision, if I look a little to one side or rest my head on the headrest.
I may start getting them in 3D when I can to watch via my VR headset.
