Tonight's episode of Max Headroom is "Academy."
I find it funny that this episode starts with a set of hackers who hijack a television signal and take over Network 23's signal. Just like a certain TV personality who took over an episode of Dr Who in the 1980s....
And here's why I can't move back to Texas.
This bill would essentially end all government health care coverage for trans-surgeries and medical therapies FOR ALL AGES. But on top of that, it maked those surgeons and therapy providers liable for the patients welfare FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.
The first is essentially a ban on any surgery not paid for out of pocket, focusing mostly on government money being spent on it. This would be Medicare or anyone in any Government Job. The second will cause doctors to stop offering any trans care at all.
And it's all wrapped up in a nice little "Hey, a Doctor said the surgeries are making him money hand over fist, and they don't care about the patients asking for this stuff as long as they get their money."
Which sadly is a mindset very common in Texas.
Ron DeSantis is requesting medical records of trans students
6 of 12 universities are confirmed to have complied with the request, regardless of HIPAA violations
If a liberal did anything similar, you’d head right wing media talking nonstop about their freedom being violated.
But for some reason, if you attack our at-risk communities or apply the word “woke” then fascism is a-ok.
I kinda want to do something with the Star Trek: The Motion Picture script stuff I've done over the years. There's been some mutterings that People Want To Do Things With It, and I'd love to do it. But at the same time, I kind of am thinking of doing my own thing if that doesn't pan out.
nstead of dwelling on the Script War, or the reasons for all the rewrites, we really dive into the differences and how they change the tone of the story? There wouldn't be much in the way of interviewing the writers, as all three of the main writers have since passed (Gene Roddenberry, Harold Livingston, Dennis Clark). Do you think there'd be interest in a book about the different versions of the movie, ala "The Lost Worlds of 2001?"
Imagine an entire chapter of a prose version of Kirk trying to talk McCoy into re-upping with Starfleet as McCoy bandages a kid's pet cheetah, or Decker pulling a phaser on Spock and McCoy and forcing the V'Ger meld?
It'd be something to fall back on if The People Who Want To Do Things With It cant do things with it....
Picard Episode 1 OVER.
I'm really getting the feeling that this is the Trek version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. After multiple Legend of Zelda games that were ostensibly aimed at kids, and tweens, suddenly we get the much more mature and refined Twilight Princess. "Zelda All Grown Up."
That's what I'm feeling here: "Star Trek - The Next Generation - Twilight Princess."
Looking forward to more. Also: More Orla Brady please. :)
(Also, wasn't there this threat from a transwarp conduit at the end of Season 2 we had to deal with?)
