It's that time of year where I like to remind everyone that "relatives" and "family" aren't the same thing, nor need they be

Relatives are people you are related to

Family are people who love you

Maybe there's some overlap, maybe there isn't - there's no wrong answer here.

But whatever you do, try not to let your relatives make you feel like you owe them anything - because you don't

Relatives are a cosmic accident, family is a relationship found and built

Anyway, stay safe out there

Allan Horsfall, since last week, is my #UK #LGBT #hero.

In 1964, three years before "homosexuality" was partly decriminalised in the UK, Allan published a brochure calling for #LGBT equality. He used his home address on it.

People wrote to him with their stories, and to request copies of the #brochure to distribute further. This created a queer #community in the UK.

That was before photocopying. He had to find a printing company to typeset and print it.
