On this day in 1945, Auschwitz was liberated. Today, the world marks International #HolocaustRemembranceDay.
We can say “never again” all we want, but only constant effort to defend universal human rights has a chance of making that ambition a reality.
I'm just over here trying to process the fact that the guy who leaked damaging news about Hillary Clinton was literally being paid by Russia, and was instrumental in burying the evidence that he, and many other Republicans, were directly working for Putin.
And we're just... I dunno. Going to work and having bagels and shit.
Russia. Owns. The. Republican. Party. Russia had spies in the highest levels of the FBI. Russia had spies in the highest levels of the NRA. Russia owns US Congresspersons.
But whatevs. It's just a literal takeover of the government by our sworn enemy.

You know, I understand why people who have built up community on Twitter stay post-Musk (esp #BlackTwitter), why people put up with the #enshittification of Facebook & Instagram because their offline friends are there. I get it. But- the naked truth is no matter how much social media became the default public square in the last decade, they’re all private platforms owned by people who (at the very least) are tolerant of fascism. Whether you stay or go, we all have to come to terms with that now.
Call to Action for Trans Rights
Please sign and share this petition to "Stop Cigna, Aetna, and Humana’s discrimination against transgender health care providers" and learn more about Dr. Tiffany Najberg.
Since changing her first name in 2021, Shreveport UrgentEMS and its owner Dr. Tiffany Najberg has been fighting with insurance companies for payment reimbursements. If she were a cisgender woman who had gotten married, a name change would be routine.

Spreadsheet includes general info on what the bill is, including who the sponsors are and where the bill is at.
For folks able to do the 'pester your legislators' stuff, this is goldmine for identifying which bills are in danger of passing and fighting back.

the countdown has begun. your giant #mecha, gleaming and thrumming with power, is ready to be launched into battle. the resident AI has an eclectic musical taste and has offered you a limited selection of power-up anthems. do you choose:
well, "Stalker" sure was a movie. i really am a fan of overlong, atmospheric movies full of philosophical conversations but it's hard to concentrate on the last twenty minutes when my Tom Servo subroutines are all screaming "END! ENNND! ENNNNNNND!"
absolutely 100% worth your time, but know what you're getting into. also, the story behind the production is BONKERS.
attn @mawr :
"when a man is born, he is soft and pliable. when he dies, he is strong and hard. when a tree grows, it is soft and pliable. but when it is dry and hard, it dies. hardness and strength are Death's companions. flexibility and softness are the embodiment of life. that which has become hard will not triumph."
