That's a big fella. Apparently we won't be hit by it, but the winds being sucked into it are going to hit us in a few hours....

Ice Cream #4: Blue Moon

So, because I accidentally used buttermilk in my strawberry ice cream, I still had a cup of frozen cream left, so I looked around for another regional ice cream flavor I could make, and came across "Superman."

But one of the ingredients of Superman, named for the color, was "Blue Moon." I decided to go with that first, and try Superman some other time. And Blue Moon is GOOD.

Basically, if you want the flavor of Blue Moon, go eat some Froot Loops Cereal with a LOT of milk. Let it soak in there a good while, then eat the Froot Loops. And all the milk left over? THAT'S the taste of Blue Moon. In fact, if you could add some crushed froot loops this would be amazing.

This one was made with frozen raspberries, which it recommends if you can't find raspberry extract or oil. I wouldn't do it that way as the seeds get into the ice cream (I don't mind that), but the raspberries don't incorporate well, or deliver a strong raspberry flavor.

But I'd totally make this again.

Today I pulled out all the boxes for my stuff, as I get ready to pack. I don't throw boxes away mainly because they're DESIGNED to protect the contents, so if I need to move I can just put the stuff back in its box.

It really does feel like a defeat, though. I was supposed to start this last month, but kinda waffled until today when circumstances said "you have the time, Jenn, it's time to start."

It shouldn't take long to put the stuff that has boxes back into them. From there, we pack those into packing boxes, and pack stuff that's just loose. Then into storage. Then break down the furniture.

Still, trying really hard not to see this as a defeat. But it's hard not it. I still have a month to find work that'll keep me here. But that's quickly looking like it's not going to happen.

Just got some spam email from Abu Ghabi, and everytime I see Abu Dhabi, I think of the Abu Dhabi song from Garfield:

As much as I love my cabin in , I also have an apartment in the city. Spent the evening cleaning up the physics of the place, as it needed some work. But it's nice and cozy....

So, that pic of me sitting in a stonehenge area in Resonite? I made that whole area. In game. In VR. I "drew" it, by sketching convex shapes into plinths.

It's so wierd creating stuff in CR. Drawing objects, pulling and stretching them with your hands...being ablke to grab and twist and move the stuff around to create. It really feels organic, and like building in real life.

If learning to make tortillas makes me an abuelita, does having this hard candy make me a granny?

Auntie?

So, in an attempt to temporarily escape the nightmare of the last few weeks, I worked on updating the bed in EmuVR. Looking online, I was super surprised to find the actual pillow cases I had in the 80s, AND that the photo was totally texture ready.

The bedspread was harder to find, so I simply grabbed my current comforter, took a pic of that, and textured the bed with it. I have a thing for warm reds and browns....

All the comforts of my home in the 90s. Gonna need it for when I upload my brain to the cloud to escape the horrors of meatspace.

Where's Mr. Scott when you need him....

Ice Cream #3 - Finally. Teaberry.

And all my frozen cream is out of the freezer. Thawing cream from frozen is wierd. It never liquefies and stays chunky solid. Until you start to stir it. Then it literally melts back into cream.

Dairy is WIERD.

So, my Holy Basil plant is doing quite well. Tons of leaves, and a bug I can't seem to catch that is nibbling on some of them. Not sure how I should start harvesting the leaves, but there's enough there to make any food I make with it very happy.

I love how his stems are reaching out for the sun.

In other news, I know they made my arcade stick to look like an NES Advantage, but it's a great scheme. Every time I look at it I want to press those big red buttons.

How do I still have four hours left in my day? After all this? I should use my time productively:

1787:
Elizabeth Willing Powel: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"
Benjamin Franklin: "A republic, if you can keep it."

2024:
Waiter: "Anything on the menu you'd like to order?"
The Electorate: "I'd like fascism please. Well done. Topped with ketchup."
