So, that guy at the grocery store. Was he mad that he had to stay late? Was he mad at shoplifters? Or was he mad that I was trans?
I mean, it felt fairly focused at me, but I've worked enough customer service to know that sometimes people are angry and take it out on those nearby.
That's the nefarious thing about the current rhetoric of hate being thrown at transfolk. I don't pass. I know when people who don't know me don't like me.
It's when someone you DO know seems unhappy. And you can't tell if it's because they decided to believe the rhetoric, or they're just having a bad day. And now, my evening is full of worry, probably for no good reason.
I remember years and years ago when a friend came to visit me and we were touring historic San Antonio, I was thinking of a possible series of history videos where the history was actually legit, but it was sprinkled with absurd compedy and the occasional false fact:
Santa Anna stayed at San Antonio's Spanish Governor's Palace, seen here next to the "Wireless Toyz" where Santa Anna topped up his minutes on his cell phone so he could stay in contact with General José de Urrea."
It was just a thought and long LONG before I even had a YouTube channel or even anything to record it that wasn't a 320x240 at 15fps mess of a video. But I love that someone has actually DONE it and made a series out of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYNzqgU7na4
"Who am I? I'm just a whole bunch of carbon molecules that got together and signed an eighty year contract for a timeshare and we all found out the plumbing is faulty, half the lights don't work, and the heater only runs every other Saturday of every other month with an R in it. And the landlord won't pick up his phone."
Daren R. Dochterman uploaded a really good impression of Orson Welles doing the Star Trek: The Motion Picture TV spot narration. I figured, the Director's Edition just came out, why not use that to recreate a TV Spot for the Director's Edition for fun?
Other than one shot I had to pull from another source (can you figure out which one?), it was super easy, and I did it all on my lunch hour.
