Today, I likely has my payment issue resolved, we had our last Cultural Commission meeting for the year (which I'll talk about soon), and my writing workload significantly lightened, so I spent my evening playing some old school favorites.

Not shown: Star Trek for the Atari 2600. Got to Sector 4.3!

Ice Cream #2 - Oreo Ice Cream.

I'd wanted cookies and cream, but I saw that this was supposed to be Oreo flavored ice cream and decided I'd make it to burn off some of my frozen cream.

So while putting the recipe together, I gave it a good look.

THERE IS A FULL CUP OF SUGAR IN THIS THING. And also the recipe mentions that this will take a while to firm up to a soft serve consistency, and will need time in the freezer to really be ice cream. I THINK THAT'S BECAUSE OF ALL THE SUGAR.

It's powerfully sweet. I think I could probably half that sugar, maybe a quarter. The Oreos themselves are sweet. At 15g per serving I can eat a spoonful. Maybe a spoonful and a half.

But I CAN eat a spoonful....

One of the nice things about VR is it allows me to be something I was never in meat-space: A (virtual) Cute Patootie.

I HAVE A JAWLINE THERE!

...did I just make ice cream with buttermilk?

Um...oops...

That explains the "lemonade" taste.

Ice Cream #1 Made: Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream.

Well, more like Strawberry Lemonade Ice Cream. The strawberries aren't in season, and the mixture of lemon juice, honey and sugar is supposed to sit for 15-20 minutes to extract out the strawberry flavor. I did it for 15 minutes which is fine...but it wasn't ENOUGH strawberry flavor.

Still, Strawberry Lemonade Ice Cream isn't bad.

I love the voting system here in Washington State. It's convenient, easy, allows you time to research, and early voting is simply the default. And then you get messages letting you know whereyour ballot is in the process.

Wish they all could do it like we do.

Maybe you should ask for it.

When you gotta use the bathroom, but don't want to miss any of the lunchtime gossip...

"Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them. The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came...."

Unless something massive happens before the end of the year, I have my One Sentence Year in Review for 2024....

So, the end credits to the new Ranma series really gives me a lump in my throat because it felt like such a sad song and the visuals enhanced that.

I just listened to the song along with English lyrics. And this punched me directly in the heart.

Closetspace Fact: When I was working on Closetspace as a TV series in the 90s, I'd planned to follow the anime trend of having a nice song with visuals for closing credits. This was before "squeezing" the credits was a thing, so it was doable.

I need to burn off 3.5 cups of heavy cream.

I'm going to need to make Ice Cream. Oh, darn.

I get a lot of pushback from Texas friends and family who are all "You are being paranoid about Trans laws in Texas."

This is one of MANY reasons why I dont' do anything when in Texas, and why I only go back for very specific once-in-a-lifetime events:

If you ever do this you deserve to burn in hell for all eternity I don’t make the rules (I do)

One of the things I mean when I say “trans rights are human rights” is that a lot of things I want to protect for trans folks are things that benefit others more often.

For example, in the US there are fewer than 200 gender-affirming surgeries performed on people under 18 each year. 97% of those are breast reductions for cisgender boys. In fact, access to gender-affirming care of most types is used more often by non-trans people than trans people. Protecting trans folks’ access to such care benefits lots of people who aren’t trans.

Trans rights are human rights.

FINALLY getting around to watching Star Trek: Lower Decks, and...uh...I think I'm in love with Kita. ❤

I'm not a doomsday prepper or anything. But I'm set if there is.

I bought these a few years back as part of a planned taste test article I was gonna do on the website before my life kind collapsed.

And honestly, they've fed me when power goes out or I ran out of grocery money.
