A few years ago we moved from Texas to Washington State nestled right under Canada. There were a number of reasons for it but some of them seemed a little bit alarmist at the time. Every single one was prescient and all the worst possibilities have come true. I'm relieved we have our neighbors to the north so close for when things get even worse. They're our little bastion of sanity in a world gone wild
I also pretty much have these moments every single day now.
Sometimes (like today), multiple times.
I got to mess with one of the local birds. There's a jay around here who makes laser sounds. He started doing these quick fire blasts of lasers...so...I copied him with clicks.
And then he started choosing different numbers, and I copied those. And then he got really complex with them, and I copied as best I could. Eventually he got mad at me, flew down and started scouring the back yard looking for me. Chirping the whole time.
I was in a window, so he couldn't find me, but I've never seen a bird fly off in a huff before. Which was great, because I couldn't keep up with him! Thems some complex lasers there.
