Due to the extremely large number of basic functions "systemd" has usurped from other parts of the OS, a natural and interesting project would be to see if systemd can now exist independently apart from Linux, or rather, to ascertain what is the most minimal alternate kernel that could serve as a life support system for successfully running systemd. Since calling this "System System" would be absurd, the most logical name for such a project would be "d OS", or "DOS". In this Mastodon post I will
In 2022, Tom Lehrer released all his songs, lyrics and works to the public domain, an amazing move. While checking on the site, I found out he silently released more material in September of 2023 - a DAT tape of his work with an orchestra and some solo piano takes that are not elsewhere. If you're a Lehrer fan, quite a surprise.
@zx3 - I love this game. I suck so so so bad at it.
@dancinyogi - 2023 was a complete disaster. But getting involved with a local LGBT organization has changed the direction of my life. I only hope I can continue down this path and survive (laid off in January, unemplyed since).
1000 richest people are approched. "The end of the world is here. Time to go to your doomsday bunker", they are told. The billionaires nodded. They knew this was coming. They were prepared.
So they gathered their loved ones and locked themselves in luxury bunkers. No contact to outside world.
10 years later they emerge. The world has healed. The air is breathable, people are happy. "What was the catastrophy?" they ask the first person they meet.
She screams: "THEY GOT OUT!!!"
@Orb2069 - it was actually a white elephant gift Crystal got at work, and surprised us with before dinner. I've always said that if some culture out there eats something, I'll try it at least once. So I put my money, and the tarantula, where my mouth was.
Surprisingly, it's not terrible. It's not good either. Like eating a mouthful of shrimp shells, minus the shrimp taste. In fact, it was completely tasteless. Pure texture. I ate some with a strawberry that was on the table and was surprised it wasn't bad. Crystal agreed that with SOME kind of flavor it could probably be good. I'd say if it was maybe brined in salt, or had a light salt crust, I'd eat it as a snack.
So. That new Dr Who. Gotta say I was not happy with the first half, as there was a LOT of "Disney" elements to it with the fantasy stuff and music, but the second half felt more Dr Who to me.
I'm hoping the season kinda walks back the fantasy elements (or at least un-Dinsey-fies), because if they keep it up, I may end putting the show away for a while.
@Alairthephoenix - There are some really fun Doctor/Jamie scenes in Tomb of the Cybermen.
@kkarhan - Gourmet roomie told me I overcooked the tomato paste and it scorched....
